SDRAM (Cache)

The Intel
ECC SDRAM memory. This DIMM is connected directly to the memory controller
interface bus of the ROC and serves as storage for the executable code transferred from
the flash. It also serves as cache during RAID transactions. Cache mode selection takes
immediate effect while the server is online and is available on a per virtual drive basis.
The ROC memory controller provides single-bit ECC error correction with multi-bit
detection support.
The Intel
AXXRSBBU7 only.
The optional Intel
for data cached in the memory. It is connected remotely to the RAID controller through a
supplied cable and remote extender board (REB). See
Note: Intel Corporation strongly recommends using an uninterruptible power supply (UPS).

Diagnostic Components

Audible Alarm
The audible alarm beeps when a drive fails and also during a rebuild. The drive failure
alarm beeps are:
Degraded array: Short tone, one second on, one second off.
Failed array: Long tone, three seconds on, one second off.
Hot spare commissioned: Short tone, one second on, three seconds off.
