Symptom
Noise is generated.
Noise Canceling function
is not effective.

Buttons do not work.
The player does not work.  The remaining battery is insufficient.
The transferred songs
cannot be found.
Cause/Remedy
 An apparatus emitting radio signals, such as a
mobile phone is being used near the player.
 When using such apparatus as mobile phones,
keep them away from the player.
 N oise Canceling is set in a quiet place.
 Noise tends to be more noticeable in a quiet place
or depending on the noise type.
Release Noise Canceling (  page 28).
 Headphones do not fit correctly.
 Adjust headphones to fit your ears (  page 29).
 The player is in the stop mode.
 The Noise Canceling function is only available
while in the play mode or receiving FM.
 The player is used in a quiet place.
 The Noise Canceling function may not be effective
in a quiet place or depending on the noise type.
 When outputting to external audio speakers using
the optional cradle, VPT settings and Clear Stereo
function may not be effective because the player is
designed for compatible headphones only. This is
not a malfunction.
 The HOLD switch is set to the HOLD position.
 Slide the HOLD switch to the opposite position
(  page 10).
 The player contains moisture condensation.
 Wait a few hours to let the player dry.
 The remaining battery is low or insufficient.
 Charge the battery connecting to the computer
(  page 78).
 Even if charging the battery and nothing is
changed, press the RESET button to reset the
player (  page 86).
