3 Overlay Windows

Overlay windows provide a mechanism for displaying information to the user while a
PC-over-IP session is in progress. These windows are occasionally displayed on top
of the user's remote session.
Status overlay windows are used to show network and USB device status in the form
of icons and text. The overlays have simple animation and are displayed when the
status changes (i.e., the network connection becomes lost, or an unauthorized USB
device is plugged in).

3.1 Network Connection Lost Overlay

Loss of network connectivity is indicated using an overlay with the message
"Network connection lost" over the most recent screen data. An example is shown in
Figure 59.

Figure 59: Network Connection Lost Overlay

The lost network connection message will persist until the network is restored or the
timeout expires (and the PC-over-IP session ends).

3.2 USB Device Not Authorized Overlay

Connection of an unauthorized USB device is denoted using an overlay with the
message "USB device not authorized". An example is shown in Figure 60.

The overlay will be displayed for approximately 5 seconds.
