6. Remove the retainer bracket from the drive being replaced and install it on the new drive.
7. Slide the new optical drive into the bay from the front until it snaps into position.
8. Reconnect the signal and power cables to the new drive.
9. Go to "Completing the FRU replacement" on page 106.

This section provides instructions on how to replace the diskette drive or card reader.
To remove or replace the diskette drive or card reader, do the following:
1. Remove the computer cover. See "Removing the cover" on page 76.
2. Remove the front bezel. See "Removing the front bezel" on page 80.
3. Locate the diskette drive or card reader. See "Locations" on page 77.
4. Disconnect the signal and power cables from the rear of the diskette drive. If you are replacing a card
reader, disconnect the card reader cable from the system board. See "Locating parts on the system
board " on page 79.
