Replacing a Failed Drive (Central Axis Only)

It doesn't happen often, but occasionally a drive in your Central Axis may fail. A failed drive
must be replaced if you want to continue to have full use of your Central Axis.

Identifying a Failed Drive

The Central Axis drives are identified by either a square symbol or a triangle symbol. Be
sure to note the symbol for the failed drive so you'll know which drive to replace:

In order to replace the failed drive, you'll have to shut down your Central Axis. Before you
do that, you can print a hard copy of the Drive Replacement instructions, as shown in the
steps below, or you can insert the Maxtor Central Axis Installation CD and read the
instructions provided in the PDF of the Maxtor Central Axis Admin User Guide.
