Organization Hierarchy in vCenter Chargeback
Each imported organization appears as a vCenter Chargeback hierarchy and includes all the organization
vDCs, the media and template files, vApps, virtual machines, and networks. All organization hierarchies have
four folders: Allocation Pool, Networks, Pay As You Go, and Reservation Pool.
The organization vDCs are assigned to one of the Allocation Pool, Pay As You Go, and Reservation Pool folders
based on the allocation model configured on them. The Networks folder consists of all the networks defined
in the organization.
Each organization vDC has two folders: Media and Template Files and vApps. The Media and Template Files
folder consists of all the media files and template files associated with the organization vDC. The vApp folder
includes all the vApps created in the organization vDC.
Each vApp consists of the corresponding virtual machines and a Network folder. This Network folder includes
the organization networks used by the vApp.
Configuring vCenter Chargeback Cost Models
You can use different cost models for different organizations. You can also use different cost models for each
organization vDC in an organization.
The allocation model of the organization vDC is one of the factors for deciding the cost model to be used for
generating reports on the organization vDC. vCenter Chargeback provides different cost models and billing
policies for the different VMware Cloud Director allocation models. Table
allocation models and the corresponding cost models and billing policies available in vCenter Chargeback.

You can modify these default cost models and billing policies as per your requirements. You can also define
new cost models and billing policies for your organizations and organization vDCs. Table

Set the base rates for the computing resources.
Use the VMware Cloud Director Billing Policy ‐ Pay As You Go Fixed Charging,
VMware Cloud Director Billing Policy ‐ Pay As You Go Resource Based Charging,
or a similar billing policy.
Ensure that the base rate is defined for vCPU, memory, storage, count of networks,
external network transfer, external network receive, and network services
computing resources.
