Using vCenter Chargeback with
VMware Cloud Director
vCenter Chargeback 1.5 and VMware Cloud Director 1.0
After you have installed and configured your VMware Cloud Director setup, you can use vCenter Chargeback 
to generate the usage and cost reports for the various organizations and the corresponding organization vDCs 
in your VMware Cloud Director setup.
Prerequisites for Using vCenter Chargeback with VMware Cloud
Director
Before you start generating reports, perform the following tasks:

Install vCenter Chargeback along with a vCenter Chargeback data collector.
Refer to the vCenter Chargeback User's Guide for detailed instructions about installing vCenter Chargeback 
and the corresponding data collector.

Install the VMware Cloud Director Data Collector and vShield Manager Data Collector.
Refer to the vCenter Chargeback User's Guide for detailed instructions about installing the data collectors 
individually or along with vCenter Chargeback.

Configure vCenter Chargeback and all the data collectors.
You must configure the VMware Cloud Director Data Collector and vShield Manager Data Collector for 
the data collectors to function correctly. Refer to the vCenter Chargeback User's Guide for detailed 
instructions.

Add all the vCenter Server machines, which are attached to your VMware Cloud Director setup, to 
vCenter Chargeback.
Refer to the vCenter Chargeback User's Guide for detailed instructions about adding vCenter Server 
machines to vCenter Chargeback.
After all the data collectors are installed and configured and the vCenter Server instances in your VMware 
Cloud Director setup are added to vCenter Chargeback, the organizations and the entities within the 
organization in your VMware Cloud Director setup are automatically imported in to vCenter Chargeback.

  • Page 2 Configuring vCenter Chargeback Cost Models You can use different cost models for different organizations. You can also use different cost models for each  organization vDC in an organization. The allocation model of the organization vDC is one of the factors for deciding the cost model to be used for  generating reports on the organization vDC. vCenter Chargeback provides different cost models and billing  policies for the different VMware Cloud Director allocation models. Table 1 lists the VMware Cloud Director  allocation models and the corresponding cost models and billing policies available in vCenter Chargeback.
