When you create the job, you can specify which slots should contain the imported media
and any password and encryption details.
NOTE: If the media has been encrypted, you will only be able to use it if you can provide
the encryption passphrase. Please also note that this type of import job is not used for the
mail slot, there is a separate insert/remove media wizard for these procedures

Sort Media

This job physically sorts media in the library by either barcode or media name. It requires
at least one empty slot in the library so that it can move the tape cartridges.

Insert Media

This job is used to load media from a mail slot. Data Protector Express will read any
barcode or MIC (memory in cartridge, see page 19) information so that it can match the
media to a record in its catalog and make it available for other jobs. If you use the tape
library front panel to load media into the mail slot, Data Protector Express must first
carry out a full inventory to be able to identify the media.

Remove Media

This job is used to remove media so that it can be ejected from a mail slot and is no
longer available for other jobs. If you use the tape library front panel to eject media, the
Data Protector Express catalog will not know the media is no longer available and will
display an error message if a job tries to use it.

Reserving Slots

In some cases, you may have media in a tape library that you do not wish Data Protector
Express to use. To achieve this, media can be marked as reserved. The reserved state can
be set by the user on any storage slot. To access it, right click on a slot, choose Element
Status and set it to Reserved.
NOTE: If the tape library is used by two applications (Data Protector Express and another
application), Data Protector Express will not use tapes that have already been used by the
other application, but you could use this function to mark unused tape as reserved.

Media guidelines

When you run the job for the first time, Data Protector Express looks for blank media and
names it according to the rotation type selected and its position within a set. All media is
automatically located in folders within the Backup Job folder.
Do not format media that you wish to use for a rotation schedule; Data Protector
Express will be unable to use it for the backup job because media is automatically
named and tracked according to its position within the rotation cycle (Daily Set 1,
Daily Set 2, and so on).
If a piece of media is removed or the catalog record is corrupted, Data Protector
Express will prompt you to load the media during subsequent backups. If this is not
possible, Data Protector Express will use the next blank cartridge.
