1.1 Installation Overview

®
PlateSpin Portability Suite provides a single installation program for both PlateSpin
®
PlateSpin Protect products. The program checks your system for the necessary prerequisites and
interactively installs the required software components.
The production configuration of both PlateSpin
of the same set of software components:
A database server: Portability Suite works with Microsoft* SQL Server* 2005. If you do not
have a Microsoft SQL Server 2005 database server, you can use a Microsoft SQL Server 2005
Express Edition database server included with your Portability Suite distribution.
Portability Suite Server: The runtime execution engine underlying both PlateSpin
®
and PlateSpin Protect products.
Portability Suite Client: Client software for user interaction with the Portability Suite Server.
These components can be either collocated on a single host or installed on separate hosts.
