9.9.A. LIFE JACKETS
Life jackets (PFDs) are the most important safety equipment to have on
board. Life jacket must be stored in an easily accessible place. Special
care must be taken not to store life jackets under other equipment. It is
important to note that children, people who cannot swim, elderly or
handicapped people must wear life jackets at all times during boating.
Follow the instructions on the life jackets and keep them in good order.
Check your local regulations concerning approved lifejackets to have on
board.
9.9.B. FIRE EXTINGUISHERS
The boat should be equipped with a fire extinguisher, which should be
fixed on the holder stated the location at the spesific information booklet.
Use an approved fire extinguisher. All passengers should know the
location and operating procedure of the fire extinguisher (s).
Fire Extinguisher Maintenance
Inspect extinguishers monthly to make sure that:
Seals and tamper indicators are not broken or missing.
Pressure gauges or indicators read in the operable range. (Note:
CO2 extinguishers do not have gauges.)
