OPERATION
POSSIBLE CAUSE
1. Damaged oil seal.
2. Bent shaft.
3. Shaft rough in oil seal area.
4. Oil seal installed wrong.
5. Oil seal not sealing in the
housing.
6. Oil level too high.
7. Sand hole in casting.
8. Gasket damaged.
9. Bolts loose.
1. Conditions too wet for
cutting.
2. Dull blades.
3. Height of cutter lower at
rear or front.
1. Bolts not tightened.
2. Bolt hole elongated or
oversized.
3. Locknut worn out.
1. Cutting in sandy conditions.
2. Cutting in rocky conditions.

POSSIBLE REMEDY
Replace seal.
Replace oil seal and shaft.
Replace or repair shaft.
Replace seal.
Replace seal or use a sealant on
OD of seal.
Drain oil to proper level.
Replace castings or gear box.
Replace gasket.
Tighten bolts.
Allow grass to dry
before cutting. Slow
groundspeed of
tractor but keep
engine running at full
PTO rpm. Cutting
lower may help.
Sharpen or replace
blades.
See Cutting Height
Instructions.
Tighten bolts to
250 ft.lbs.
Replace Bushing or
Blade Carrier.
Replace Locknut.
Increase cutting height.
Increase cutting height.
