Check that the power cables from the monitor and sys-
1.
tem unit are connected to a wall outlet.
CAUTION: Be sure that the voltage se-
lector switch is set correctly for the voltage in your
area (115 V or 230 V).
If you are booting from the hard disk, make sure that
2.
the diskette drive is empty.
To boot from the diskette drive, be sure that you have a
diskette in drive A containing operating system files.
See your operating system documentation for informa-
tion about creating system diskettes.
The system looks for the drive containing
operating system files. If you have a diskette with
MS-DOS or another operating system's files in drive
A, the system boots from the diskette drive. If you do
not have a diskette in drive A, the system boots from
the hard disk.
A diskette without operating system files in drive A
prevents a system boot and displays the error mes-
sage, "Non-system disk or disk error. Replace and
press any key when ready."
Booting from a diskette can be disabled for virus pro-
tection in the Setup utility (see Chapter 2).
Turn on power to the system unit by pressing the power
3.
button on the front panel.
Turn on the power to the monitor.
