This new product is a combo-mode device located in one compact device: IEEE 802.11b
11Mbps Wireless functionality and 32 megabytes of storage capacity. Suitable for home
and/or office, the EZ Connect™ 2.4GHz 11Mbps Wireless USB Flash Drive (SMCWUSB32)
combines the ease-of-use and convenience of USB-enabled PCs with the benefits
of 11Mbps wireless operation in this full-featured solution for the networked SOHO
environment. The new wireless USB plus storage combo adapter connects instantly
with an existing Wireless Infrastructure to support mobile users, temporary work
sites, and wireless multimedia. Designed for both business and home users, this new
adapter provides a way to store your business and personal documents, including
Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Word, for easy access anywhere you go. In addition,
it supports the WEP security standards expected by today's wireless users and is
compatible with IEEE 802.11b networks. The new SMCWUSB32 is an all-in-one solution:
the ultimate convenient way to connect to your 2.4GHz wireless local area network and
simultaneously save or backup documents for later use.
Designed to provide the ultimate EZ Install experience and 802.11b 11Mbps network
connectivity, with the added feature of built-in storage, the SMCWUSB32 will
revolutionize the way you work. With storage capacity up to 32 megabytes, moving
files between computers has never been easier! Now you can transfer, download and
save files directly from the Internet onto the flash drive with ease. Whether you're at
home, at work, or on the road, the SMCWUSB32 gives you immediate access to your
files via any computer with a USB port. Business and personal documents, including
Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Word files, can be easily backed up and accessed
anywhere. Your favorite digital photos, audio, and video files can now be easily taken
with you everywhere you go.
The new SMCWUSB32 is Plug-and-Play™ and supports the major Windows platforms,
making the installation process very simple. It is able to communicate in Ad-Hoc mode
(Peer-to-Peer) with another 802.11b wireless client or in Infrastructure mode, which
requires an Access Point for communication to the wired network. This means you
now have the freedom to connect to a wireless network in the home or office or on
the road. Support for multiple profiles makes it very easy to connect to the network
in any location.
To ensure secure transmissions across your wireless network, users can enable
64/128-bit Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP), Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA), and 802.1x
authentication. In addition, the EZ Connect™ g 2.4GHz 11Mbps Wireless USB Flash
Drive offers an auto-fallback feature that provides scalable connectivity under noisy
environments and enables a larger wireless operating range.
