8.4 | Changes in 1.04 releases

In firmware Release 1.03 and 1.04, there are two changes in the settings of the IPSEC tunnel
settings:
1. IKE Keep Alive Address (Ping IP address). This an IP address of the remote site, it can be the
IP of the peer SMCBR14VPN or from a PC connected to it. Its function is to keep alive the tunnel
when no data is transferred and to check for tunnel integrity.
2. Remote and Local ID. The SMCBR14/18VPN will check for remote and local ID when the tunnel
is established. If the SMCBR14VPNs have a public address, this parameters can be left blank.
However, they are mandatory if the route is place behind a NAT firewall.
Both Remote ID and Local ID should be blank or with value , if only one have vaule, UI will
pop warning message (see below pics).
There are three valid inputs:
IP adress in format lik 10.0.0.1
FQDN. The Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN), also known as the Domain Name Server (DNS)
name. The FQDN must be in ASCII format. For example, myhost.sm.com.
User-FQDN. The User-Fully Qualified Domain Name (User-FQDN) of the subject of the certificate.
The User-FQDN must be in SMTP mail address format. For example: user@smc.com. (Not usable
between two SMCBR14VPNs)
