    GENERAL Notes on operating instructions The following reading aids are used to simplify these operating instructions: requests you to perform an action. shows the unit’s reaction. – identifies a list. Safety instructions and warnings contain important information for the safe use of the unit.

    The multimedia centre is switched on and off together with the ignition. Firstly, the start screen appears. If a navigation system has been connected it can be accessed after approx. 10 seconds. After a further approx. 30 seconds, all the MC 5400 functions are operational.

    This means that the person who first selects a source or an MC 5400 function has the master rights for this unit, receives the connection to the video source and is able to operate it.

    Pages 25 and 26. Help This opens the on-line help with further information on the use of the MC 5400. The on-line help is displayed via the internet browser. Hyperlinks can be marked with the pointer (pointer changes to hand symbol) and can be started by pressing the OK but - ton.

    The AV input ”DVD” is activated in the activity bar (DVD active/ inactive) using this menu item. Diagnosis Code-protected menu for diagnostic purposes. (Only accessible for authorised service workshops.) * These settings are simultaneously valid for all operating units of the MC 5400.

    One of three possible provider profiles can be selected for dial-in. The provider data required for dial-in can be entered under “Parameters”.     MP3 menu In order to be able to play MP3 files, a memory card with MP3 data must be inserted in the PCMCIA slot of the MC 5400. Page 26. Select the symbol for the MP3 player in the main menu.

    CF slot (narrow card slit) of the MC 5400, if the red LED on the right of the CF slot still illuminates. This CF card contains the operating system of the MC 5400. Failure to observe this, results in danger of data loss or even destruction of the unit.

    MEMORY CARDS Information on memory cards ® Only insert CompactFlash memory cards in the CF slot. Inserting other card types can result in malfunction or destruction of the unit and the card. Never remove the memory card from the CF slot, if the red LED next to the slot still illu - minates.

    When connecting the MC 5400 to a mobile phone please ensure that only the original data cable from the relevant mobile phone manufacturer is used. Data cables from other suppliers may result in the MC 5400 malfunctioning.
