BRAKE FLUID - Recommendations

NOTE
This vehicle is fitted with front and
rear disk brakes. Each braking system is
operated by an independent hydraulic
circuit. The information provided below
applies to both braking systems.
The brakes are extremely important for
your safety. Do not use the vehicle if the
brakes are not in perfect working order.
Always check brake efficiency before
riding.
A n y s u d d e n c h a n g e s i n p l a y o r
hardness in the brake lever are warning
signs of problems with the hydraulic
circuits.
If in doubt about the braking efficiency
of your bike or if you are not able to
perform routine checks, contact an
aprilia Authorized Dealer.
Make sure that the brake disks and
b r a k e l i n i n g s h a v e n o t b e c o m e
contaminated with oil or grease. This is
particularly important after servicing or
inspections.
Make sure the brake lines are not
twisted or worn.
KEEP AWAY FROM CHILDREN.
DO NOT RELEASE BRAKE FLUID INTO
THE ENVIRONMENT.

DISK BRAKES

The brakes are critical to your safety
and must always be kept in sleek
running order. Check the brakes before
each ride.
A dirty disk soils the pads, leading to
loss of braking. Dirty pads must be
replaced, whereas a dirty brake disk
may be cleaned with a high quality
degreasing product.
Have brake fluid changed at an aprilia
Authorized Dealer every two years.
NOTE

Brake fluid level decreases gradually as
the brake pads wear down.
The brake reservoirs are positioned on the
handlebar, near the brake lever couplings.
Periodically check the brake fluid level in
the reservoirs, see on the side (CHECK)
and the wear of the pads, see page 58
(CHECKING THE BRAKE PADS FOR
WEAR).
Do not use the vehicle if the braking
system is leaking fluid.
