Cleaning Bottom Connector Contacts
IMPORTANT:
The contact material technologies used in the radio are engineered to provide a reliable
interconnection. For reliable performance, it is important to ensure that the electrical contact
interface remains clean and free of foreign material. To maintain optimal performance of the
contact interface, Motorola Solutions recommends inspecting and cleaning the contacts every
six months or before Radio programming.
There are two options to clean the bottom connector contacts:
1 Using a lint-free swab applied with isopropyl alcohol (100% by volume), wipe/remove any
dirt or foreign material from the contacts .
2 To maintain optimal performance of the contact interface, clean and protect the contacts with

a DeoxIT GOLD cleaner/lubricant pen (Supplier CAIG Labs, P/N G100P)
package is recommended as it provides better cleaning action and access to the contacts.
Prior to applying the lubricant/cleaner, wipe the contacts with lint-free swabs to remove any
dirt or foreign material. Per the manufacturer's instructions, shake the pen, and depress the
pen tip until fluid begins to flow and saturates the felt tip. Apply the lubricant/cleaner to the
contacts with short wiping strokes.
Vent Port Handling Precaution
The portable device has a vent port that allows for pressure equalization in the device. The pressure
equalization vent is located at the battery compartment area. Never touch the equalization vent.
Ensure that no oily substances come in contact with this vent. Never poke this vent with any objects,
such as needles, tweezers, or screwdrivers. This create a leak path into the device and lost the
submersibility of the device.

Safe Handling of CMOS and LDMOS Devices

Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) and Laterally Diffused Metal Oxide
Semiconductor (LDMOS) devices are used in this family of radios, and are susceptible to damage
by electrostatic or high-voltage charges.
Damage can be latent, resulting in failures occurring weeks or months later. Therefore, special
precautions must be taken to prevent device damage during disassembly, troubleshooting, and repair.
