Lowering the Reference Pitch
While holding down the [Key Touch/Demo Song] but-
ton, press the key of C4. Refer to *Functions Assigned
to the Keyboard" (p. 21).

ly used, 440 Hz. In other words, 440 Hz is produced
when Middle A (A4) is played.

Many pianos used for performing in concert are tuned
to 442 Hz. That is, 442 Hz is produced when Middle A
(A4) is played.
MEMO
What is a Cent?
1/100 of a semitone (half-step) in the equal-tempera-
ment scale is known as a "cent." You can raise and
lower the HP 145's reference pitch by up to 100 cents
(one semitone).
