Epson ET 8550 Setup

Document: Initial setup of the Epson ET 8550 for use with Reveal Inks
Time Required: 20 minutes total over two days
The following steps outline how to set up and initialize your Epson ET 8550 for use with Reveal Inks.
Initial Setup Procedure for the Epson ET 8550:
1. Unpack the ET 8550 printer; remove all protective blue tape and packaging.
2. Do not power on your printer.
3. Open the top of the printer.
4. Open the lid to the ink fill ports on the right-front side of the printer.
5. The Reveal Ink configuration is as follows (from left to right): K CW CYM CW
Note that two tanks are filled with CW.
6. Remove the cap from one Reveal CW bottle. Lift the blue fill cap over the PB port. Insert the nozzle of
the bottle over the PB port. The bottle will begin to fill this port. DO NOT SQUEEZE THE BOTTLE
The bottle will stop filling when the tank is full. You will have some CW left in the bottle. Close the blue
fill cap.
7. Remove the cap from the other Reveal CW bottle. Repeat the above procedure for the GY port to fill
with CW. DO NOT SQUEEZE THE BOTTLE
8. Fill the other tanks on the printer with the corresponding ink. Remember that the ink configurations
should be (left to right): K, CW, C, Y, M, CW
9. You should see the ink levels in the sight glass on the front of the printer.
10. Allow the inks and printer to sit for 8+ hours. Overnight is perfectly fine. This will allow any bubbles
that were accumulated during the initial filling process to escape.
11. After the 8 hr period, install the power cord, and power on the new printer.
