Front fan

Attention: Do not open your computer or attempt any repair before reading and understanding the Chapter
1 "Read this first: Important safety information" on page 1.
Note: The front fan is only available on some models.
To remove or install the front fan, do the following:
1. Prepare your computer. See "Preparing your computer" on page 96.
2. Locate the front fan. See "FRUs and CRUs" on page 35.
3. To remove the front fan, do the following:
a. Disconnect the front-fan cable from the front-fan connector on the system board. See "Parts on the
system board" on page 38.
b. The front fan is attached to the chassis by four rubber mounts. Break or cut the rubber mounts and
gently pull the front fan out of the chassis.

4. To install the front fan, do the following:
a. Align the new rubber mounts of the new front fan with the corresponding holes in the chassis. Push
the rubber mounts through the holes.
