Your digital camera is equipped with the Picture Transfer Protocol (PTP) standard. If you are running Windows XP or Mac OS X (v1 0.1/v1 0.2/v1 0.3), this
protocol enables you to download images by simply connecting the camera to a computer, without installing the software bundled on the Canon
Digital Camera Solution Disk.
However, please note that there are several limitations to downloading images with this method. If you encounter any problems during image
download, use the software applications bundled on the Canon Digital Camera Solution Disk to download images.
• It may take a few minutes, after connecting the camera, until you can
download images.
• Sound files (WAV*') associated with still images may not display.

Two data types will appear in the camera (for example: [IMG_0001.JPG] and
[SND_0001.WAV]).
• Only AVI*2 can be downloaded. Thumbnails cannot be downloaded.

Two data types are created in the camera (for example: [MVL0001.AVI] and
[MVL0001.THM]). Also, [MVL0001.THM] files cannot be downloaded but movies
can still be replayed in the computer.

• You may not be able to download the camera images if there are more
than
approximat~ly
1000 images in the camera.
• Protected images on the camera may lose this setting once they are
doyv~loaded
onto the computer.
• Sound files (WAV) cannot be downloaded with the Scanners and
Cameras Wizard.
• RAW image download differs according to your Windows XP system as
shown below.

If Service Pack 1 or Service Pack 2 is installed
Use Windows Explorer to download RAW images since the Scanners and
Cameras Wizard cannot download them. Please note, however, that RAW
images with sound memo attachments cannot be downloaded. Also,
other images of different types may not be downloadable if the camera
contains RAW.images with sound memo attachments.

If' a Service Pack is not installed
RAW images*3 cannot be downloaded. Also, other images of different
types may not be downloadable if the camera contains RAW images.

With Windows Explorer, RAW images display as BMP images but they cannot be
opened or downloaded. Please note, however, that RAW images with sound memo
attachments will not display.
• Movies exceeding 210 MB cannot be downloaded.

X v10.1/v10.2/v10.3)
• You may not be able to download the camera images if there are more
than approximately 1000 images in the camera. Use a memory card
reader to download in that case.
• Images shot with the shutter speed set to the range of 0.3 to 15
seconds will not display correctly in Image Capture.
• Images shot in Adobe RGB color space cannot be downloaded. (They
can be downloaded if you upgrade your operating system to Mac OS X
10.3.4.)
• When downloading images with Image Capture, images taken with
the camera held vertically might not be rotated correctly.

• Movies exceeding 15 MB cannot be downloaded. (They can be
downloaded if you upgrade your operating system to Mac OS X 1.0.2.8)
• When displaying the detailed shooting information of camera images
with Image Capture, the flash setting displays as [On] even if the flash
was not used.

• Do not 'use iPhoto to download RAW images. Use Image Capture
instead.

• RAW images cannot be downloaded.
• The Exif*4 version may change to 2.1 and image information may be
modified when downloading images with Image Capture (if you
upgrade your QuickTirne version to 6.4/6.5, information will display
correctly). To download images without any information changes, use
the following procedures:
1. Connect the camera to the computer and prepare it to transfer data.
2. Start Image Capture.
3. In the screen that appears, click [Options].
4. Remove the checkmark from [Embed Colorsync profile] in the [Download
Options] tab and click [OK].

Images shot with cameras complying with Exif Print incorporate shooting settings
information, such as the shooting conditions and scene mode, along with the image
data.

X v10.3)
• RAW images that could not be downloaded will also be deleted from
the camera when you are downloading images with iPhoto*5 if you
place a check mark beside [Erase camera contents after transfer] and
select [Delete Originals].
*5:
iPhoto Version 2.0.1 will not delete RAW images from the camera that have not yet
been downloaded.
