Objects placed next to the vehicle

Obstacles on the sides are not shown in the fol-
lowing situations, for example:
You park the vehicle and switch it off.

You open the doors.

After the engine is restarted, obstacles must be
detected again by driving past them before a new
warning can be issued.
Also, observe the system limits of the following
systems:
Reversing camera ( page 309)

360° camera ( page 311)

Observe the information on vehicle sensors and
cameras; the system otherwise cannot function
properly ( page 260).

Vehicles with trailer hitch: If a transport device,
e.g.trailer or bicycle rack is attached to the trailer
hitch, and the electrical connection is correctly
established. PARKTRONIC Parking Assist is deac-
tivated for the rear zone.
Problems with Parking Assist PARKTRONIC
If the Parking Assist PARKTRONIC display lights
up red for approximately three seconds and then
goes out, and the é symbol appears in the
driver display, the system may have been deacti-
vated due to signal interference. Start the vehicle
again and check if Parking Assist PARKTRONIC
works at a different location.
If a warning tone also sounds, it may be due to
one of the following causes:
The sensors are dirty: clean the sensors

( page 512).

Parking Assist PARKTRONIC has been deacti-
R
vated due to a malfunction: restart the vehi-
cle. If the problem persists, consult a qualified
specialist workshop.

▌Activating/deactivating Parking Assist
PARKTRONIC
* NOTE Vehicle damage when parking or
manoeuvring due to nearby objects
Parking Assist PARKTRONIC may not detect
certain objects in the close-up range.
When parking or manoeuvring, pay par-

ticular attention to objects that are
under or above the sensors, e.g. flower
pots or drawbars. The vehicle or other
objects may otherwise be damaged.
Requirements
The camera menu is open.

Or: the PARKTRONIC pop-up window appears.
R
Tap = on the central display.

If the indicator lamp is lit, Parking Assist
PARKTRONIC is active. If the indicator lamp does
not light up or the symbol é is displayed,
PARKTRONIC Parking Assist is not active.

Parking Assist PARKTRONIC is automatically
activated when the vehicle is started.
