@ POWER switch
Depress to turn on the power. To turn off, press the switch again.
While the power is on, the dial pointer and the cassette compartment
are illuminated.
@ SPEAKERS selector
OFF: to cut off the speaker sound or to monitor through the head-
phones.
A: to drive speaker system A (connected to the SPEAKER A ter-
minals).
A+B: to drive both speaker system A and B. If only one speaker
system is connected
with the selector in this position, no sound
will be heard, because the A and B terminals are connected
in
series.
@ © (headphone) jack
Accepts any headphones.
For private listening, set the SPEAKERS
selector to OFF. The headphone volume can be adjusted with the
VOLUME
control.

Lights up when an FM stereo program of sufficient signal strength is
tuned in with the FM MODE switch set to 0 STEREO (MUTING ON).
© TUNED (tuning) indicator
Lights up when a broadcasting signal is tuned in accurately.

@ Function selectors and indicators
Select the desired program source. The indicator of the selector in
use illuminates.
TAPE: for playing back the built-in cassette deck or for using a micro-
phone.
PHONO: for record playing (connected to PHONO
inputs).
FM: for FM broadcasting programs received by the built-in tuner.
MW: for MW broadcasting programs received by the built-in tuner.
LW: for LW broadcasting programs received by the built-in tuner.
AUXITV: for auxiliary source programs (connected to AUX/TV inputs)

Turn to select the desired station.
@Q VOLUME control
Turn clockwise for more volume.
@ ISS (interference suppress switch) (bottom)
Used for MW or LW program recording. See page 10.
@ LOUDNESS switch
Normally keep this switch released (0
OFF). When listening to pro-
gram sources at a low volume, depress the switch (a ON).
The loudness control compensates
for the human
ear's reduced
response to very low frequency sound at low volume levels, and pro-
vides an apparently uniform response at these levels.
The effect on this control gradually decreases as the volume in-
creases.
® BALANCE control
Regulates the sound balance between right and left channels for op-
timum stereo effect. Clockwise rotation (to R) decreases the left-
channel sound, and vice versa.

Normally set the control to the center position.
® BASS and TREBLE TONE controls
Adjust the tone quality of the reproduced sound. Turn clockwise (to
+) for more bass or treble and counterclockwise (to —) for less.
