Main advanced functions
SQL (squelch)
Squelch mutes the device's speaker when there is no reception. With the squelch level set correctly,
the sound will only be heard when a signal is being received and will significantly reduce battery con-
sumption. It is recommended to set the level to 5. When level 0 is set, the CALL button does not work.
VOX (voice activation of transmission)
Using the Vox function, you can activate transmission with your voice. When the device stops detecting
sound, then it will automatically stop transmitting. It is recommended to adjust the sensitivity of the
VOX function so that transmitting is smooth and is not triggered by the quietest sounds (the higher
the VOX value, the higher the volume level needed to start transmitting).
W/N
The W/N function provides the feature of switching between the frequency ranges of the transmitting
channel: narrow (12.5 kHz) and wide (25 kHz). This allows you to increase sensitivity (12.5 kHz) and re-
duce interference from adjacent channels.
TDR (dual watch / dual reception)
When TDR mode is activated, the device receives simultaneously on frequencies (channels) A and B.
The device behavior when transmitting (PTT) and switching channels depends on the TX-AB parame-
ter setting in the menu. The frequency (channel) – that is active – is indicated by a triangular symbol
on the left side of the LCD display.
TOT
The TOT function allows you to set the transmission time limit in the range of 15-600 seconds. Ten sec-
onds before the end of the set time, the red LED starts flashing.
ANI (automatic device identification number)
The ANI function is used to transmit an automatic device identification number when the PTT button
is pressed or released. ANI can only be set using a computer.
CTCSS/DCS
CTCSS/DCS are a sort of „access codes" enabling the device to communicate only with the other users
set on the same frequency and on the same CTCSS/DCS. Using CTCSS/DCS does not guarantee
complete confidentiality of communication.
