Fuel system. Bleeding

The fuel system must be bled e.g. after changing fuel
filter, if the fuel tank has been run dry and after long
stops. Refer to the next page for bleeding when re-
placing a switchable fuel filter during operation.
1. Place a receptacle under the fuel filter and open
the bleed screw (1) on the filter bracket.
2. Pump fuel using a hand pump (2) until the fuel
running out is free from air bubbles. Tighten the
bleed screw while fuel is running out.
3. Pump another 10–20 times with the bleed screw
closed to attain a good feed pressure.
4. Make sure there are no leaks.
No other bleeding is normally required but if the en-
gine will not start, the injector pump must be bled as
follows:
1. Detach the connection (3) and pump with a hang
pump until the fuel running out is free from air.
2. Tighten the conection while fuel is running out.
3. Pump another 10–20 times to attain a good feed
pressure.

der the filter.
