Data that has been recorded on a DVD with a PC
will be erased from the disc when the disc is
inserted.
VHS Playback
Theplaybackpicturedoesnotappear onthe TV
screen.
Make sta-e the TV is set to the chalmel for the VCR.
If you are using a monitor, set it to xideo input.
The picture is not clear.
Adjust the tracking with the TRACKING +
buttons.
The video heads are dirty (see page 113). (,,?lean
the video heads using a Sony video head cleaning
cassette. Ifa Sony cleaning cassette is not
available in your area, have the heads cleaned at
yottr nearest Sony dealer (a standard sela-ice fee
will be charged). Do not use a commercially
available liquid type cleaning cassette, as it may
damage the video heads.
The video heads may have to be replaced.

ini\)rmation.
The picture rolls vertically during picture
search.
Actiust the x ertical hold control on the TV or
monitor.
The picturehas no sound.
The tape is defectix e.
If you made AV connections, check the audio
cord comlection.
VHS Recording
The channelcannotbe changedfrom the
channelyou are recording.
Set the TV's input source to "TV."
A TV programdoes not appear on the TV
screen.
Make sure the TV is set to the channel i\_r the
VCR. If you are using a monitor, set it to video
input.
Select the correct source with the CH ÷_ or
INPUT SELECT buttons. Select a chamlel
nmnber when recording TV pro_ams: select
"LINE 1" or "LINE2" when recording from other
equipment.
TV reception is poor.
Actiust the TV antenna.
The tape starts playing as soon as it is
inserted.
The safety tab has been removed. To record on
this tape. cover the tab hole.
The tape is ejected when you press • nEe.
Check that the safety tab has not been removed.
Nothing happenswhen youpress• REC.
Make sttre the tape is not at its end.
VHSTimer recording
The timer doesnot operate.
Check that the clock is set.
Make sure a tape has been inserted.

recording.
Make sttre your timer settings are past the current
time.
Check that the cable box is ttmled on.
The clock stops if the VCR-DVD recorder is
discomlected from the wall outlet for more than
one mimlte. Reset the clock and timer.
Turn the power offand unplug the AC power
cord.
The timer recording will not be activated if the
recorder is on at the preset time.
The pro_am that starts first has priority and the
second program starts recording only after the
first program has finished. If the programs strut
at the same time, the pro_am listed first in the
menu has priority (page 70).
