    Using the Touch Panel You can use the keys on the touch panel besides the Direction and Mode (hard) buttons to perform various operations.     Inserting and Removing the SD Card Images photographed with this camera will be stored in the SD card. Without inserting the SD card, you cannot take photographs using the camera. Before starting Before inserting or removing the SD card, make sure that the power to the camera is off.

    Loading and Unloading the Battery This camera must be used with dedicated rechargeable lithium-ion battery (PDR-BT3). This battery is merely called battery in this Instruction Manual. You cannot use other types of battery. Charge the battery before using the camera. Before starting Confirm that the power of the camera is off.

    Charging the Battery You may also use the AC adapter when using the camera indoors for a long period of time or when transferring images to a personal computer, for example. Before starting Confirm that the power to the camera is off and then load the battery. Insert the plug from the adapter into the DC IN 5V terminal.

    Notes • Charge the battery when using this camera for the first time. To charge the battery, load them in the battery compartment of this camera.     Taking Photographs You can take photographs while looking through the LCD monitor. Before starting Load the battery, insert the SD card, then open the lens cover. Turn the power on. POWER Use the LCD monitor to compose the picture. The LCD monitor shows an image captured through the lens. If the LCD monitor is not bright enough, adjust the brightness of the monitor.
