Chapter 4. Replacing a fan module in a DM600S disk shelf
Each DM600S drive shelf includes two fan modules. If a fan module fails, you must replace it as soon as
possible to ensure that the shelf has adequate cooling. When you remove the failed fan module, you do not
have to turn off power to your disk shelf.

You must ensure that you remove and replace the fan module within 30 minutes to prevent the system from
overheating.
Step 1.
Put on antistatic protection.
Step 2.
Unpack the new fan module, and place it on a level surface near the shelf.Save all packing material
for use when returning the failed fan.
Step 3.
From the back of the disk shelf, look at the Attention LEDs to locate the fan module you need to
remove.
You must replace the fan module that has its Attention LED on.

Press the orange tab to release the fan module handle.
