Standard Horizon Matrix GX1280S Quick Reference

1) DSC DISTRESS (MMSI must be programmed)
a. LIFT THE DISTRESS COVER
b. PRESS KEY
c. PRESS AND HOLD KEY UNTIL SIREN SOUNDS.
2) PWR
Press and hold the VOL/PWR knob to turn the radio on or off.
3) VOL
Turn to adjust the speaker volume.
4) SQL
Adjust to the point where random noise stops from the speaker.
Further adjustment will cause a loss in reception of wanted signals.
5) CHANNEL KNOB
Used to select channels.
6) 16/9
Press once to select CH16. For CH9 Press and hold.
7) WX
Press to select NOAA weather channels.
For weather alert, select channel into scan (see 8a).
8) SCAN - MEM
Adding or removing channels into memory
a. Select the channel using the CHANNEL knob.
b. Press and hold the "SCAN" key to program in the channel into
memory.
MATRIX
c. MEM will be shown on the display.
d. To remove a channel, select the channel to be removed (shows MEM).
Press and hold the "SCAN" key until MEM is removed from the
display
Start or stopping scan
a. Adjust squelch to point where noise is not heard through speaker.
b. Press the "SCAN" key to start or stop scanning.
c. During scan if held will switch between scan and P-scan.
d . Will show channels in scan memory when held and CHANNEL knob
is turned.
9) H/L
Switches transmitter power from 1 to 25 Watt output.
10) DUAL WATCH
1. Select the channel that is to be dual watched to CH16.
2. Press the "DW" key to start Dual Watch function.
3. To disable Dual Watch function, press the "DW" key again.
Note if DSC SCAN is "ON" in the radio setup mode,
the radio will watch between the selected channel, CH16 and CH70.

a. Press to select DSC call functions.
Individual Call and All Ships Call
b. Press and hold to select Radio Setup Menu or DSC Setup Menu.
