External Timecode
without Regeneration
When this method is used, the internal
timecode generator is not affected by
the external timecode. If you want to
record the playback timecode of an
external VTR, the method explained
in section 2-5-2 "Synchronizing the
Internal Timecode Generator with an
External Signal" is recommended.
Proceed as follows.

Connect the timecode output of an
external timecode generator to the
TC IN connector when LTC or
AUTO is selected in the home
page of the sub LCD menu (see
page 2-19).

Set switches as follows.
INT/EXT: EXT

F-RUN/R-RUN: No setting required

2-5-5 First Edit Function

The first edit function automatically
creates a base tape for insert editing.
Set the timecode value for the start of
recording in setup menu item 614.
You can also specify the number of
seconds before this timecode value at
which the recording starts, using setup
menu item 615. Select the video signal
to be recorded on the tape with "SG"
in the sub LCD menu.
Use the following procedure to create
a base tape.

Set setup menu item 614 (page 6-
24) to ON, and set the starting
timecode value.
For details of the setting
procedure, see setup menu item
603 (page 6-21).

With setup menu item 615 (page
6-24), set the number of seconds
before the timecode value set in
step 1 from which you want
recording to start (10 to 30
seconds).

Hold down the REC button and
press the AUTO EDIT button.
This switches the unit to First Edit
mode.
Note
Press the REC button first. If you
press the AUTO EDIT button
first, this will carry out a normal
auto edit.

Carry out crash recording.
