Heater Assembly

The heater assembly is located behind the drum.
It consists of 2 open coils fastened to a single
housing. The inner coil and the outer coil are each
individually controlled by separate relays on the
power board. When energized, each coil draws 12.5
amps at 240 VAC. Each coil has an approximate
resistance value of 19.2 Ω.
To remove the heater assembly:
WARNING: Sharp edges may be exposed when
servicing the dryer. Use caution to avoid injury.
Wear Kevlar gloves or equivalent protection.

Remove the top, control, and front panels. (See
Top Panel, Control Panel

Disconnect the lead wires from the heaters, inlet
safety thermostat, inlet control thermistor, and
the high limit thermostat,

Remove the 4 Phillips-head screws that attach
the heater housing to the cabinet.

Gas Valve

The gas valve is attached to a bracket located in the
bottom, right, front corner of the dryer cabinet.
To remove the gas valve:
1.
Shut the gas off to the unit.
2.
Remove the top, control, and front panels. (See
Top Panel, Control Panel and Front Panel.)
3.
Remove the drum. (See Drum.)
4.
Disconnect the coil wire harness from each coil.
5.
Disconnect the ignitor wire harness.
6.
Disconnect the elbow coupling from the gas
valve by turning counterclockwise (toward the
rear of the dryer).
7.
Remove the 2 Phillips-head screws that attach
the gas valve bracket to the chassis bottom and
pull bracket toward the front of the dryer and
remove.

8.
Remove the coils from the gas valve. (See Coils.)
9.
Turn the bracket over. Remove the 2 Phillips-
head screws that attach the gas valve to the
gas valve bracket.
Note: Upon reassembly, ensure the gas valve
bracket is inserted under the 2 tabs located in the
chassis bottom.
