Symptom
Paddle blades will not rotate.
Paddle blades rotate too slow.
Material is leaking from drum ends.
Drum is diffi cult to discharge (tilt).
Main (bull) or pinion gear is worn. ¹
Gear teeth are not contacting properly. ¹ Worn or damaged pillow block bearings? Adjust or replace pillow block bearings.

Worn or defective main (bull) gear? ¹
Worn or defective pinion gear? ¹
Worn or defective V-belt? ¹
Adjustment lever misaligned? ¹
Material load too heavy, exceeding
mixer capability?
Object stuck inside mixing drum,
jamming paddle rotation?
Improper engine speed? ¹
Engine not running or stalls? ¹
Electric motor not connected? ¹
Incorrect relief valve pressure? ²
Defective hydraulic motor or pump? ²
Slow hydraulic cylinder dumping? ²
Contaminated relief cartridge? ³
Mixing paddles slipping under load?
Worn or defective V-belt? ¹
Worn or defective paddle shaft seals? Replace seals.
Defective or worn drum support brackets? Apply grease to brackets or replace.
Blades adjusted too tight?
Drum pivot bracket contaminated
with dirt?
Gears out of adjustment?
Solution
Check main gear.
Replace if worn or broken.
Check pinion gear.
Replace if worn.
Replace V-belt.
Check position of adjustment lever.
Adjust if necessary.
Reduce amount of material
being mixed.
Stop engine. Empty out drum
contents. Remove obstruction.
Check and adjust engine speed.
Check engine.
Check electric motor. Apply power.
Inspect for proper relief pressure.

Contact MQ Technical Services.
Inspect relief pressure.
PRO12 = 1,750 psi
PRO20 = 2,300 psi
Adjust idler wheel tension. ¹
Replace V-belt.
Adjust blades until they almost touch
side walls of drum.
Grease bracket.
Inspect for proper gear backlash.
Inspect that gears are properly centered.
