d) Pull the NVMe drive backplane (B) away from the chassis that uses the thumbscrews, then lift the
NVMe drive backplane from the chassis. See the previous figure.
20. Remove the fans enough to prevent them from interfering with the removal of the backplane:
a) Put your thumb against the front of the latch, (A) as shown in the following figure, and put your
index finger against the rear of the latch.
b) Push against the latch with your thumb and pull out with your index finger. This action releases
the latch.
c) Rotate the handle in the direction shown in the following figure to unlock the fan from its slot.
d) After the fan unlatches, unplug but do not remove fan from its slot. Pull the fan out far enough to
prevent it from interfering with the removal of the sytem backplane. See the following figure.
e) Repeat "20.a" on page 48 through "20.d" on page 48 for the other fans.
