8.3.3 Fax – sending
Problem
I cannot send documents.
I cannot send a fax overseas.
Cause & Solution
L The paper is inserted halfway. Insert it correctly (page 46) and press {SET}
to clear the message.
L FAX ONLY mode is set. Tell the other party the number is only used for
faxes.
L Change the receiving mode to TEL mode (page 24) or TEL/FAX mode
(page 24).
L If this button is pressed during dialling, a pause will be inserted. If pressed
immediately after a dial tone is obtained, the last number dialled will be
redialled.
L Even if there are only a few sentences, every page that comes out of the
machine is considered a full page.
L Turn OFF the following features:
– sending report: feature #04 on page 30.
– journal report: feature #22 on page 31.
– Caller ID list: feature #26 on page 31.
L All or part of the numbers are the same as another code or ID. Change the
number:
– fax activation code: feature #41 on page 32.
– auto disconnection: feature #49 on page 33.
L The memory reception alert of feature #44 is ON (page 33), and the unit has
a document in memory. Press {STOP} to stop the beeps, then see the
displayed message instructions to solve the problem.
L You need to subscribe to a Caller ID service.
L Other telephone equipment may be interfering with your phone. Disconnect
it and try again.
L Other electrical appliances connected to the same outlet may be interfering
with the Caller ID information.
L Telephone line noise may be affecting the Caller ID information.
L The caller requested not to send his/her information (page 17).
L Do not pause for over 3 minutes while viewing.
Cause & Solution
L The telephone line cord is connected to the [EXT] jack on the unit. Connect
to the [LINE] jack (page 13).
L The other party's fax machine is busy or has run out of recording paper. Try
again.
L The other party's machine is not a fax machine. Check with the other party.
L The other party's fax machine failed to answer the fax automatically. Send
the fax manually (page 20).
L The memory is full of received documents and the quick scan (feature #34
on page 32) is ON. Turn this feature OFF, and send the fax again.
L Use the overseas transmission mode (feature #23 on page 31).
L Add two pauses at the end of the telephone number or dial manually.
