3) Servicing wiring harness and con-
nectors
It is important that the protective plastic bag is put
back in place after servicing the wiring harness
connectors.
This bag is designed to keep water from the
connectors in the event of a leak from above.
① Remove the strain reliefs and wire ties at the
top and bottom of the plastic bag. Do not
remove the tape from the top of the bag. This
tape forms the permanent U-bend that
prevents water from flowing down the harness
into the connectors below it.
② Without removing the tape, slide the bag up the
harness so that it is inverted around the
U-bend. This provides access to the harness
connectors.
③ When service is complete, inspect the harness
connectors for damage or signs of bad
connections. Repair or replace as necessary.
④ Slide the plastic bag down over the connectors.
Make sure the U-bend is still in place and that
the plastic bag is not damaged.
Reattach the bottom wire tie approximately 2
inches (5 cm) below the connectors.
NOTE: The wire tie should be loosely tied so
there is an air gap between the harness and
the bag at the bottom. This air gap provides
ventilation to dry out any moisture that might
get into the connectors.
⑤ Reattach the harness to the cabinet above the
plastic bag with the strain relief mounted on the
wiring harness.
