Introduction

Read this manual carefully, and keep for future reference.

This product earned the ENERGY STAR® by meeting strict energy efficiency guidelines set bythe US EPA US EPA does not endorse any manufacturer claims of healthier indoor airfrom the use ofthis product.
The energy eticiency ofthis ENERGY STAR® qualified model is measured based on a ratio between the mode's CADR for dust and the electrical energy it consumes, or CADR/Wet.
Use this manual to learn the features, operation and maintenance of the Oreck Air Purifier.

Safety

General Warnings
warning IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

Do not operate any fan with a damaged cord or plug. Discard fan or return to an authorized service facility for examination and/or repair.
Do not run cord under carpeting. Do not cover cord with throw rugs, runners, or similar coverings. Arrange cord away from traffic area and where it will not be tripped over.
Only use the air purifier as described in this manual.
Failure to do so may result in serious injury or death.
Do not use the air purifier with a damaged cord or plug. Doing so may result in electric shock, serious injury or death. Have a qualified service technician replace any damaged cords or plugs.
Do not handle the unit with wet hands. Doing so may result in electrical shock, serious injury or death. Thoroughly dry your hands before handling any part of the air purifier.

Hair, loose clothing and body parts may get caught in the machine resulting in injury. Keep hair, loose clothing and body parts away from openings and moving parts.
Do not unplug by pulling on the cord. Doing so may result in electrical sparks and fire. Unplug the unit by grasping, and pulling the plug.
Note: A polarized plug has one rounded prong and one straight prong. The rounded end goes into the longest socket slot.
This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to defeat this safety feature.
Do not use an extension cord.
Do not place the air purifier near sources of heat, such as stove tops, ovens, radiators or computers.

This equipment should be inspected frequently and collected dirt removed from it regularly to prevent excessive accumulation that may result in flashover or a risk of fire.
Unplug or disconnect the appliance from the power supply before servicing.

Placement Warnings

Do not use the air purifier outdoors or on wet surfaces. Doing so may result in electric shock, serious injury or death. Use only indoors and under dry conditions.
Do not use the air purifier in an enclosed space where flammable, combustible or explosive gases are present.
Do not use in an area where toxic vapors, flammable dust or oxygen tanks are present. Doing so may result in serious injury or death. Check the location and make sure these elements are not present.
Warning: Product contains chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm.

Do not place open flames, including candles, directly in front of the air purifier.
Keep objects away from the air intake grille.

It is important to consider the following when deciding on where to locate the air purifier:

Position the air purifier on a flat, solid, stable surface Never place the unit on soft surfaces such as a bed or sofa.
Position the air purifier where the dirty air is not drawn across your head or body while sitting or sleeping.
Position the air purifier so the plug on the power cord easily reaches a standard electrical outlet for a polarized plug.
Never allow children to insert hand in lighted opening.

Display Panel: Air purifier controls and indicator lights.
Light Sensor: Measures the level of light to activate sleep mode.
Mood Button: Turns mood lighting On and Off.
Power Button: Turns the purifier On and Off.
AUTO On/Off Button: Automatically adjusts the fan speed based on the level of particles detected by the Air Sensor.
Speed Button: Manually sets the fan speed.
Speed Indicator Lights: Displays fan speed.
Silent Button: Turns Silent mode on and off.
Mood Light/Air Indicator: Visually displays a blue mood light and either a light purple, magenta, or red light based on the level of particles detected by the Air Sensor.
Air Sensor: Measures the level of particles passing through the sensor.
Front Grille: Air enters here for the first stage of cleaning.
Filter Reset Button: Resets filter replacement cycle counter (located behind the air inlet/outlets).

Handle: Use handle to move the purifier.
Exhaust Grille: Directs the flow of air as it exits the unit.
Power Cord: Plug into the outlet to begin use.
Pre-filter: Filters large particles such as dust, hair and lint that passes through the filter.
A3 Filter: Anti-allergy, anti-dust, anti-odor filter TM reduces allergens, dust, odors and VOC's from the air that passes through the filter.
HEPA Filter: Captures 99.97% of dust, allergens, pet dander, mold and smoke at.3 microns from the air that passes through the filter.

Operation

Operation - Part 1

Place. Locate the air purifier on a solid surface. Be sure the grille is not blocked by other objects and there are no candles or flames near the unit.
Plug In. Into nearest standard electrical outlet that accepts a polarized plug.
Press. The power button to turn the purifier On or Off. Press and hold the POWER button approximately two seconds to turn the purifier OFF.
Select. The desired air cleaning mode (manual or automatic) and the fan speed. The fan speed is controlled manually in manual mode or by the Air Sensor in the automatic mode.

Manual Mode

Press the SPEED button for the desired fan speed: Low, Medium, High, Turbo.
The indicator lights will show the speed. All three lights will be illuminated in Turbo Mode.
Silent Mode: Press the Silent button to for the lowest and most quiet speed. Note: this speed is only available in the manual mode.

Automatic (AUTO) Mode

The Air Sensor is set to standard sensitivity when shipped from the factory. If you prefer the air purifier to adjust its speed more or less frequently, you can adjust the sensitivity of the Air Sensor.

Press the AUTO On/Off button to set the purifier in automatic mode. In automatic mode the air purifier will self adjust the fan speed.
The indicator lights will show the speed.
Sleep Mode: If the environment is dark for longer than three minutes in Auto Mode, the unit automatically switches to sleep mode, lowering the airflow speed, noise and electricity consumption. If the environment brightens again for longer than five minutes the unit resumes normal operation. Note: This mode is only available in Auto Mode. In sleep mode all displays except the power indicator are turned off.

Press the MOOD button if you want the mood lamp On or Off.

Cleaning

Cleaning and Replacement Intervals
Proper care and cleaning of the air purifier is critical to performance. The following chart shows the recommended cleaning intervals and method.

Cabinet	As needed	Wipe with damp cloth first. If required, follow with mild, non-abrasive cleaner.
Air Inlet and Outlet	Every two months	Brush with soft brush. Exercise caution not to have dust fall inside the purifier.
Air Sensor	Every two months
Pre-Filter	Two to four weeks	Rinse thoroughly in warm water or as needed. Let dry before re-installing.
A3 TM Filter	3 Years	* Replace
HEPA Filter	3 Years	* Replace

Cleaning the unit while it is plugged in may result in electric shock, electric spark and serious injury. Unplug the unit before cleaning or maintenance.
*Filter life will vary by usage and environment.

Replacing the Filters

Always remove the protective plastic packaging from the filter before installing the filter.

Unplug the air purifier.
Open the Cover by gently pulling from the top corners.
Pull the pre-filter straight out of the cabinet. Thoroughly rinse the Pre-Filter and let it air dry before placing it back in the Cabinet. Do not use heated or compressed air as part of the drying process.
Remove the used A3 TM Odor Filter and HEPA filter.
Note: Do not dispose of the A3 TM Odor Filter's plastic frame.
Remove the plastic bags from the filters.
Place the filters back in the Cabinet in the following order: HEPA filter, A3 TM Odor Filter, and Pre-Filter.
Note: The A3 TM Odor Filter needs to be placed into its plastic frame before inserting into the unit.

Filter Reset Mode
Filter Reset Mode - Part 1

The indicator light will blink when a filter may need to be replaced.^*
When the indicator light blinks, press the Mood Button to find out which filter needs to be replaced:
Low Speed Light
Indicates HEPA Filter is in need of replacement.
Medium Speed Light
Indicates A3^™ Filter is in need of replacement.
Using a small enough tool to fit through the air inlets, press the small black reset button located behind the air inlet/outlets.

^* Filter life will vary by usage and environment.

Cleaning the Air Sensor

Cleaning the unit while it is plugged in may result in electric shock, electric spark and serious injury. Unplug the unit before cleaning or maintenance.

Open the air sensor cover on the side of the product.
Clean the air inlet, outlet vents, and air sensor.
Wet a cotton swab lightly and clean the lens, dust inlet, and dust outlet. After cleaning, use a dry cotton swab to remove any moisture.

Note: Without regular cleaning the sensor will decline in performance.

Adjusting the Air Sensor
The purifier is shipped with the air sensor set to standard sensitivity. Adjust the sensitivity of the sensor if you want the air purifier to adjust its fan setting in Auto Mode to change more frequently or less frequently. To adjust the sensitivity of air sensor:

Press and hold the mood button and plug the unit into the electrical outlet at the same time.
A tone will ring twice and the speed indicator will blink according the current sensitivity of the air sensor.
Press the SPEED button for the desired sensitivity.

Troubleshooting

Service problems that appear to be major can often be solved easily. You can be your own troubleshooter by reviewing this guide.
All other servicing should be done by an Oreck authorized service center.

Problem	Check	Solution
Unit does not turn ON	Power Cord Cover	Plug in Power Cord. Make sure the cover is securely closed.
No air is blowing	Power Cord Is the power On?	Plug in Power Cord. Press and hold the POWER button to turn On.
Airflow speed is weak	Filters	Check the filters. Replace if necessary. Were the plastic bags removed from filters?
Color of Mood Light is always the same	Light Purple, Magenta, or Red Blue	Adjust the sensitivity of the air sensor to insensitive or standard. Adjust the sensitivity of the air sensor to sensitive or standard.
Unit does not capture particles	Filters	Check the filters. Replace if necessary. Unit may be damaged. Contact Oreck for service.
Unit still does not operate properly	Review all the above.	Contact Oreck for service.
