The side stand/ignition interlock sys-
tem works as follows:
• If the side stand is down and the
transmission is in gear, the engine
cannot be started.
• If the engine is running and the trans-
mission is shifted into gear with the
side stand down, the engine will stop
running.
• If the engine is running and the side
stand is put down with the transmis-
sion in gear, the engine will stop run-
ning.
!WARNING
Riding with the side stand incompletely
retracted can result in an accident when
you turn left.
• Check operation of the side stand/igni-
tion interlock system before riding.
• Always retract the side stand com-
pletely before starting off.
CAUTION
Park the motorcycle on firm, level ground
to help prevent it from falling over.
If you must park on an incline, aim the front
of the motorcycle toward uphill and put the
transmission into 1st gear to reduce the
possibility of rolling off the side stand.
