Remove on-board toolkit 1.
WARNING
Spring preload setting and
spring-strut damping setting
not matched.
Impaired handling.
Adjust spring-strut damping to
suit spring preload.
If you want to increase spring
preload, use the tool from the
on-board toolkit to turn knob 1
clockwise.
If you want to reduce spring
preload, use the tool from the
on-board toolkit to turn knob 1
anti-clockwise.
Basic setting of spring
preload, rear
Turn the adjuster knob anti-
clockwise to the limit position.
(One-up riding without lug-
gage)
Turn the adjuster knob anti-
clockwise to the limit position,
and then 10 turns clockwise.
(One-up with luggage)
Basic setting of spring
preload, rear
Turn the adjuster knob anti-
clockwise to the limit position,
and then 18 turns clockwise.
(One-up with luggage and top-
case)
Turn the knob clockwise as
far as it will go. (Two-up with
luggage and topcase)
Stow the on-board toolkit in its
correct position.

Adjustment
Damping must be adapted to suit
the condition of the surface on
which the motorcycle is ridden
and to suit spring preload.
An uneven surface requires
softer damping than a smooth
surface.
