a Select whether to use the sewing speed controller
to determine the zigzag width (page 127).
b Make adjustments to character or decorative
stitch patterns (page 168).
c Adjust the presser foot height. Select the height of
the presser foot when the presser foot is raised.
d Adjust the presser foot pressure. The higher the
number, the greater the pressure will be. Set the
pressure at "3" for normal sewing.
e When set to "ON", the thickness of the fabric is
automatically detected by an internal sensor while
sewing. This enables the fabric to be fed smoothly
(pages 83 and 91).

f Select whether "1-01 Straight stitch (Left)" or "1-
03 Straight stitch (Middle)" is the utility stitch that
is automatically selected when the machine is
turned on.
g Change the height of the presser foot when
sewing is stopped when the pivot setting is
selected (page 89). Adjust the presser foot to one
of the four heights.
h Change the height of the presser foot when the
machine is set to free motion sewing mode
(page 128).
i Adjust the amount of fabric feeding of the dual
feed foot (page 76).
j Pressing the "Start/Stop" button or depressing the
foot controller automatically lowers the presser
foot (if it is raised) before starting sewing. When
releasing the pedal of the foot controller or
pressing the "Start/Stop" button to stop sewing,
the presser foot will be automatically raised.
k Pressing the "Thread Cutter" button automatically
lowers the presser foot before cutting the thread.
The presser foot will be raised after the thread is
cut.
