Following service procedures m ust be perform ed
by qualified service agent. Boiler owner shall not
at t em pt t hese st eps. Failure t o do so could result

Com bust ion cham ber insulat ion in t his product
contains ceramic fiber material. Ceramic fibers
can be convert ed t o crist obalit e in very high
t em perat ure applicat ions. The I nt ernat ional
Agency for Research on Cancer ( I ARC) has
concluded, Cryst alline silica inhaled in t he form
of quart z or crist obalit e from occupat ional
sources is carcinogenic t o hum ans ( Group1) .
Avoid breat hing dust and cont act wit h skin and
eyes. Use NIOSH certified dust respirator (N95).
This t ype of respirat or is based on t he OSHA
requirem ent s for crist obalit e at t he t im e t his
docum ent was writ t en. Ot her t ypes of respirat ors
m ay be needed depending on t he j ob sit e
condit ions. Current NI OSH recom m endat ions
can be found on t he NI OSH websit e ht t p: / /
www.cdc.gov/ niosh/ hom epage.ht m l. NI OSH
approved respirat ors, m anufact urers, and phone
num bers are also list ed on t his websit e. Wear
long-sleeved, loose fitting clothing, gloves,
and eye prot ect ion. Apply enough wat er t o t he
com bust ion cham ber lining t o prevent dust . Wash
pot ent ially cont am inat ed clot hes separat ely from
ot her clot hing. Rinse clot hes washer t horoughly.

Before servicing, turn off electrical power to
boiler at service swit ch. Close m anual gas valve
t o t urn gas supply OFF t o boiler. Test for gas
leaks on any gas carrying com ponent s aft er
servicing. Service not com plet e unt il appliance
operation verified per Installation, Operation &
Maint enance Manual provided wit h boiler.

CAU TI ON
Label all wires prior t o disconnect ion when
servicing cont rols. Wiring errors can cause
im proper and dangerous operat ion. Failure t o
follow t hese inst ruct ions could r esult in m inor or
m oderat e inj ur y.
NOTICE
Perform regular service and m aint enance by
qualified service agency at least once every 12
m ont hs t o assure safe, t rouble free operat ion and
maximum efficiency.

1 1 .2 M a int ena nce And Rout ine Servicing
Check and service boiler as necessary.
Frequency of servicing will depend upon inst allat ion
condit ions and usage, m anufact urer recom m ends
annually.
• Check com bust ion is correct using com bust ion
analyzer.
• Check flue terminal outside and ensure it is not
blocked.
• Operat e boiler. Check operat ion of boiler's cont rols.
• Ensure all system connections and fittings are
sound. Correct any joints and fittings that maybe
leaking.
• Follow safet y valve m anufact urer recom m endat ions
for service.
To ensure boiler operates at peak efficiency, following
checks m ust be perform ed every year:
• check appearance and t ight ness of gas and
com bust ion circuit gasket s
• check condition and position of ignition and flame
sensing elect rodes
• check condit ion of burner and it s connect ion t o
alum inum front plat e
• check for dirt in com bust ion cham ber. Use vacuum
cleaner for t his cleaning operat ion
• check gas valve is calibrat ed correct ly using
com bust ion analyzer
• check t here is no dirt in condensat e t rap
• check cent ral heat ing syst em pressure
• check expansion t ank pressure
• check vent syst em , clean if necessary

1 1 .3 Com ponent Repla cem ent And Clea ning

Rem ove any deposit s from heat exchanger using
suit able soft brush. Do not use brush wit h m et allic
brist les.
2.
Check condit ion of t he com bust ion cham ber
insulat ion panels. Any dam aged panels m ust be
replaced.
3.
Check condit ion of burner. Clean burner wit h soft
brush and check flame ports are clear. Blockages
may be removed with stiffer brush. Do not use a
brush wit h m et allic brist les t his m ight dam age t he
burner.
4.
Rem ove any fallen deposit s from bot t om of inner
case.
5.
Check condit ion of elect rodes.
6.
Check spark gap, posit ioning and height of
elect rodes.
7.
Check fan im peller is clean and free t o rot at e.
