Safety Precautions

  • This appliance is to be connected only to an alternating current supply. The voltage shown on the appliance rating plate must correspond with that of the mains supply.
  • Do not touch the hot sealing wire.
  • Do not suck in liquids.
  • Do not stand the appliance on hot surfaces, such as an oven hotplate, or use it in the vicinity of a naked flame.
  • Always pull out the mains plug after each time the appliance is used and before any cleaning operation.
  • Never remove the plug from the socket by pulling on the flex.
  • Do not allow the mains flex to hang over edges or corners.
  • Never dip the appliance into water.
  • Keep children away from the appliance and do not allow the flex to hang down within their reach.
  • Do not use the appliance if either the mains flex or the appliance itself is damaged.
  • If the mains flex to the appliance becomes damaged, it must be repaired only by the KRUPS After-Sales Service, or by a similarly qualified person, to avoid personal danger.

Operating instructions

Raise the hinged sealing clamp.

  • Insert the desired roll of foil into the appliance with the free end upwards. (1)

To achieve first-class sealing results, you should use only KRUPS original plastic foil.
    Push in the mains plug.
  • Set the function selector to cutting-sealing . (2)

The setting for the foil type determines the sealing time.
  • Push the setter to for KRUPS Freezer foil (transparent) and to for KRUPS Boiling-Freezer foil (milky-white). (3)
  • Pull the loose end of the foil out of the appliance until the length of foil in front of the sealing wire corresponds with the desired width of the bag, but not more than 30 cm. (4)

When using a new roll of foil, a seam must first be sealed 2 cm from the open end.
  • Turn down the sealing clamp, place both hands flat upon it and then press it down very firmly. Maintain a heavy pressure until the green control lamp ceases to glow. (5)
  • Then raise the sealing clamp and carefully remove the bag sideways from the sealing wire. (6)

Wind back the remaining foil onto the roll in the appliance.
  • Do not fill the bag more than 3/4 full, making sure that the area where the eventual seam is to be remains clean and dry. This is best done by folding back the edge of the bag outwards. (7) (8)

Pull the side seams of the filled bag apart so that the two layers of foil lie flat one above the other.
  • So place the bag that the extraction nozzle lies correctly between the two layers of foil. (9)

The bag must lie as flat as possible in the region of the sealing wires and creases must be pulled straight.
  • Turn down the sealing clamp and press down gently with one hand just so far that the extraction comes into operation. With the other hand, pull the bag gently towards the table edge and raise and lower it slightly now and then. (10)

This movement causes small channels to be made in the bag during the extraction operation, so that the air can escape. It also prevents the two layers of foil from pressing together in front of the nozzle and thus lengthening the extraction time.
  • When the air has been sucked out of the bag, keep the sealing clamp pressed down and place the other hand flat on it as well. Then press the clamp down very firmly with both hands together. Maintain a heavy pressure until the green control lamp ceases to glow. (11)
  • The contents and date can be noted on the writing strip before the bag is put into the deep freeze. (12)

The sealing function makes it possible to seal several small portions in a single piece of foil, each separated from the next by a double seam, such as portions of herbs or a piece of steak and a pat of seasoned butter.
Do this by setting the function selector to sealing .
Open the sealing clamp and pull out the end of the foil as far as the width required for a single portion.
Turn down the sealing clamp and press it down firmly with both hands until the green control lamp ceases to glow.
Raise the sealing clamp and pull out sufficient foil for the next portion, and then seal that in.
  • When the required number of portions has been reached and before the last seam, turn the function selector to cutting-sealing . (13)
  • Fill the individual compartments and, if appropriate, close off with a sealing operation before starting the next lot of portions. (14)

Finally, remove the remainder of the foil using the cutting-sealing function .
    Pull out the mains plug.
After use, wipe down the appliance with a moist cloth only.
Original KRUPS replacement rolls of foil are available in appropriate shops as Item No. 385 A (Freezer Foil) or Item No. 386 A (Boiling-Freezer Foil).

Important rules for successful sealing

  • The higher the sealing pressure, the better the seam.
  • When sealing, make sure the hands cover the greatest possible area of the sealing clamp and press down as heavily as possible.
  • Use only appropriate foil material such as KRUPS Freezer Foil Item 385 A or BoilingFreezer Foil Item 386 A. Take note that office materials, cling film and greaseproof paper, etc. are NOT suitable.
  • This appliance is for intermittent operation 30 + 15 / 100 sec. That means, after 30 sec. to suck out and 15 sec. weld must be a rest period of 100 sec. If the air is sucked out only slowly, check whether the foil is pressed up to the nozzle and that the nozzle is correctly positioned between the layers of foil. Bags with a very small filling should first be shortened with a pair of scissors before extracting and sealing.
  • Maintain the heavy pressure on the sealing clamp until the sealing control lamp ceases to glow.
  • Keep the sealing wire clean. If necessary, clean off any residue by doing a sealing operation without using any foil.
  • Oversized bags should be sealed in two steps: first an oblique seam on one side the bag, then extract through the remaining hole and seal off with a second seam. (15)
