Function of Active Traffic Jam Assist

Active Traffic Jam Assist is country-depend‐
ent and only available for vehicles with the
Driving Assistance Plus Package.
Driving and parking 257
Active Traffic Jam Assist helps you when in traf‐
fic jams on multi-lane roads with separate carria‐
geways by automatically pulling away within up
to 60 seconds and with moderate steering
manoeuvres. It orients itself using the vehicle in
front and lane markings. Active Traffic Jam
Assist automatically maintains a safe distance
from the vehicle in front and vehicles cutting in.
Active Traffic Jam Assist requires you, as the
driver, to keep your hands on the steering wheel
at all times so that you are able to intervene at
any time to correct the course of the vehicle and
keep it in lane.
Active Traffic Jam Assist is only an aid. The driver
is responsible for keeping a safe distance to the
vehicle in front, for vehicle speed and for braking
in good time.
Active Traffic Jam Assist activates automatically
when all of the following conditions are met:
You are in a traffic jam on a motorway or
R
high-speed major road.
Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC is
R
switched on and active (
