Lubrication and Service
250 HOUR LUBRICATION AND MAINTENANCE CHECKS

1.
ENGINE - Refer to the engine operation and mainte-
nance manual for the complete specifications regard-
ing the engine lube oil specifications.
NOTE: If the engine is equipped with the Centinel
system, and/or the Eliminator
oil and filter change intervals are extended beyond 250
hours. Refer to the engine service manual for specific oil
and filter change intervals.
a. Change the engine oil. Refer to the engine
service manual for oil specifications.
b. Replace the oil filters.
NOTE: When installing the spin-on filter elements, fol-
low the instructions, as specified by the filter manu-
facturer. The tightening instructions are normally
printed on the outside of the filter. DO NOT use a
wrench or strap to tighten the filter elements.
c. If the truck is equipped with a reserve engine
oil tank, change the reserve tank oil filter.
d. Check the fan belt tension. Refer to the engine
service manual for fan belt adjustment instruc-
tions.

HYDRAULIC SYSTEM OIL FILTERS - Change the fil-
ter elements after the initial 250 hours, then each 500
hours of operation thereafter.
3.
FUEL FILTER - Change the filters.
4.
MOTORIZED WHEEL GEAR CASE - Refer to Motor-
ized Wheel Maintenance Schedule in Section P of the
shop manual. Check the oil level. Use Lube Key C.
5.
STEERING LINKAGE - Ensure the steering pin nuts
are tightened to 465 ± 46 N·m (343 ± 34 ft lbs).
6.
COOLING SYSTEM DCA WATER FILTERS - Change
the spin-off filters. Check the cooling system for the
proper coolant mixture and add, as required.
7.
PUMP DRIVE SHAFT - Add grease to each grease
fitting on the drive shaft. Use Lube Key D.
8.
FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS - Check the oil level.
Position the fill plug at the 12 o'clock position. The
floating ball in the sight gauge must be at its highest
position. Add oil as necessary.
9.
FUEL TANK - Drain water and sediment.
10. GE PREFILTER BLOWER - Add grease to the
grease fitting. Use Lube Key D.
