Read these instructions before using your product.

Unpack
Caution: Do not open ink cartridge packages until you are ready to
install the ink. Cartridges are vacuum packed to maintain reliability.
Remove all protective materials.

Turn on and adjust

C onnect the power cord to the back of the printer and to an
electrical outlet.
Caution: Do not connect to your computer yet.

Press the
On button, then raise the control panel.

ote: If you want to lower the control panel, squeeze the release
bar underneath and push the control panel down.

aution: To avoid damaging your product, always squeeze the
release bar to lower the control panel.

Install ink cartridges
L ift up the scanner unit.
Open the cartridge cover.
S hake the ink cartridges gently 4 or 5 times, then
unpack them.
Remove only the yellow tape from each cartridge.
C
aution: Don't remove any other seals or the cartridges may leak.
Insert the cartridges in the holder for each color.

- Page 2 Press each cartridge down until it clicks. C lose the cartridge cover. Press down until it clicks. Then lower the scanner unit and press OK. W ait while the ink delivery system primes. Priming takes about 5 minutes. ote: Your printer ships with full cartridges and part of the ink from the first cartridges is used for priming the printer. aution: Don’t turn off the printer while it is priming or you’ll waste ink. W hen you see this menu on your product’s LCD screen, do not make a selection yet. Continue with the instructions in the following sections to load paper in your product and install software. Load paper P ull out the paper cassette at the bottom of the printer. S lide the edge guides to the sides of the cassette. Slide the edge guide to your paper size. L oad paper against the edge guide with the glossy or printable side facedown. ote: Make sure the paper is loaded against the edge guide and not sticking out from the end of the cassette. S lide the edge guides against the edges of the paper, but not too tightly. Keep the cassette flat as you insert it. ote: The paper may slide forward slightly as you insert the cassette. This is normal. E xtend the output tray and flip up the paper stopper. ote: Do not flip up the paper stopper if you’re using legal-size paper. Letter-size...

Install software Note: If your computer does not have a CD/DVD drive, you can download the software from the Epson website (see “Epson technical support”). Caution: Be sure to close your other programs, including any screen savers and virus protection software, before beginning this software installation. M ake sure the printer is NOT CONNECTED to your computer. W indows : If you see a Found New Hardware screen, click ® Cancel and disconnect the USB cable. You can’t install your software that way. Insert the product CD. W indows: If you see the AutoPlay window, click Run Setup.exe. If you see the User Account Control screen, click Yes or Continue. M ac OS X: Double-click the ® Click Install (Windows) or Continue (Mac OS X) and follow the instructions on your computer screen. When you see the Select Your Connection screen, check the “Connection options” section on this sheet for more information. Choose your connection. Then click Next (Windows) or Continue (Mac OS X) and follow the instructions on your computer screen.
