STARTER SYSTEM
If rope guide is worn out or damaged, replace it as
follows:
1. Remove or break rope guide by prying from
starter case with a screwdriver.
2. Push out remaining guide from case.
3. Press new rope guide into starter case until it
bottoms with a sound of click.
Use of eye protection and safety gloves are
strongly recommended while working on re-
wind spring.
To remove rewind spring from starter case,
hold spring tightly with a long nose pliers.
If rewind spring unwinds unexpectedly, follow steps
1) to 2).
1) Catch a hook at the outer edge of rewind spring
on the inner part (A) of starter case. Wind rewind
spring counterclockwise in starter case.
2) Apply small amount lithium based grease to
out side of rewind spring.

NOTE: Rewind spring supplied as spare part is
shipped in temporary retainer. The retainer should
be removed when installing the new rewind spring.
To install new spring wound in retainer to starter
case :
1) Align an outer hook of spring in retainer with a
part (A) in starter case.
2) Push spring down into the bottom of case,
keeping spring strongly pressed against case.
3) Spring should fall into case, and retainer is
detached.
