Checklist for Combustion Air and
Venting Requirements

Verify proper clearances around the vents .
□
Ensure that the Combustion Air Requirements are
followed that will provide sufficient combustion
air for the appliance.
□
Ensure you have used the correct venting
products for Category 1 and that you have
completely followed the venting manufacturer's
installation instructions and these installation
instructions. All installations must be vented in
accordance with National Fuel Gas Code NFPA
54/ANSI Z223.1 - latest edition and the
requirements of state or local codes. In Canada,
the furnaces must be vented in accordance with
the National Standard of Canada, CAN/CSA
B149.1 and CAN/CSA B149.2 - latest editions and
amendments and the codes of the local utility or
other authority having jurisdiction.

All horizontal vent runs must be sloped up away
from the water heater a minimum of 1/4 " (6 mm)
per foot.
□
Verify that the vent termination clearances are
followed.
□
Verify that there is adequate combustion air.
