* Puncture egg yolks and w hites and
oysters before cooking to prevent
" explosion" .
* Pierce skins of potatoes, apples,
squash, hot dogs, sausages and
oysters so that steam escapes.
* Use specially bagged popcorn for
the m icrow ave oven.
* Listen w hile popping corn for the
popping to slow to 1-2 seconds.
* Transfer baby food to sm all dish
and heat carefully, stirring often.
Check for suitable tem perature.
* Rem ove the screw cap and teat
before w arm ing baby bottles. After
w arm ing shake thoroughly. Check
for suitable tem perature.
* Food w ith filling should be cut after
heating, to release steam and avoid
burns.
* Stir liquids briskly before and after
cooking for even heating.
* Use a deep bowl when cooking liquids
or cereals to prevent boiling over.
* For boiling or cooking liquids see
WARNING on page E-1.
* Rem ove food from can.
* Cook for the recom m ended tim e.
(These foods have high sugar and/
or fat contents. )
* For m icrow ave cooking, use a
m icrow ave proof roasting rack to
collect drained juices.
Roasting rack:
* Check that utensils are suitable for
M ICROWAVE cooking before you
use them .
* Use to shield food to prevent over
cooking.
* Watch for sparking. Reduce foil or
keep clear of cavity w alls.
* Place a suitable insulator such as
m icrow ave and heat proof dinner
plate betw een the turntable and the
brow ning dish.
* Cook eggs in shells. This prevents
" explosion" , w hich m ay dam age the
oven.
* Reheat w hole eggs.
* Overcook oysters.
* Pop popcorn in regular brow n bags
or glass bow ls.
* Exceed m axim um tim e on popcorn
package.
* Heat disposable bottles.
* Overheat baby bottles.
Only heat until w arm .
* Heat bottles w ith nipples on.
* Heat baby food in original jars.
* Heat or cook in closed glass jars or
air tight containers.
* Deep fat fry.
* Dry w ood, herbs, or w et papers,
clothes or flow ers.
* Operate the oven em pty.
* Heat or cook food w hile in cans.
* Overcook as they m ay catch fire.
* Place m eat directly on the turntable
for cooking.
* Use m etal utensils for M ICROWAVE
cooking. M etal reflects m icrow ave
energy and m ay cause an electrical
discharge know n as arcing.
* Use too m uch.
* Shield food close to cavity w alls.
Sparking can dam age the cavity.
* Exceed the preheating tim e recom -
m ended by the m anufacturer.
Excessive preheating can cause the
glass turntable to shatter and/or
dam age internal parts of the oven.
