Dual Tone Multi-Frequency (DTMF)

Encryption
Secure communications systems are designed to provide coded (?encrypted?) signals between some or all links in the
system. In order to do this, each device involved in secure communications is loaded with a multi-digit encryption
variable (called a key). This key is used by an encryption algorithm built into the device to encrypt voice or data as
needed. Only devices in the system with the same algorithm and encryption key can decode the encrypted signals.
Encryption
The manipulation of a packet's data in order to prevent anyone but the intended recipient from reading that data.
There are many types of data encryption, and they are the basis of network security.
