Chapter 3. Server controls, LEDs, and power

This chapter describes the controls and light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and how to
turn the server on and off.

Front view

The following illustration shows the controls, LEDs, and connectors on the front of
the server.

Press this button to release a CD or DVD from the CD or DVD drive.
When this LED is lit, it indicates that the CD or DVD drive is in use.
Connect a USB device to these connectors.
When this LED is lit, it indicates that a system error has occurred. A LED on
the system board might also be lit to help isolate the error. See Chapter 5,
"Solving problems," on page 39 for additional information. Detailed
troubleshooting information is in the Problem Determination and Service
Guide on the IBM xSeries Documentation CD.
Press this button to release a diskette from the diskette drive.
When this LED is flashing, it indicates that a hard disk drive is in use.
When this LED is lit, it indicates that the diskette drive is in use.
