14 Assembling the Pole Pruner

If the LED flashes red: there is no electric contact
between the battery and the charger. Remove
and reinsert the battery.
or
The battery has a malfunction and must be
replaced. Check the LEDs on the battery. Do not
use or charge a battery if its LEDs indicate a
malfunction.
or
The charger has a malfunction. Have it checked
by an authorized STIHL servicing dealer before
use.

14 Assembling the Pole Pruner

14.1 Mounting and Removing the Drive Tube

14.1.1 Mounting the Drive Tube
WARNING
Make sure the battery is removed before starting assembly.
Never operate your pole pruner without a properly mounted
drive tube, @ 14.1.1.
To mount the drive tube:

► Line up the coupling sleeve (1) and drive tube (2) so that
the groove (3) and lug (4) face upwards.
► Push the drive tube into the coupling sleeve.
► Turn the wing screw (5) clockwise and tighten it down
firmly.
14.1.2 Removing the Drive Tube
► Turn the wing screw counter-clockwise.
► Pull the drive tube out of the coupling sleeve.

14.2 Cutting Attachment

WARNING
If non-matching components are used, the cutting
attachment will be damaged beyond repair after a short
period of operation, and the chain could de-rail, resulting in
serious or fatal personal injury.
A cutting attachment consists of the chain, guide bar and
chain sprocket.

– The pitch (t) of the chain (1), must match the pitch of the
chain sprocket.
– The drive link gauge (2) of the chain must match the
groove width of the guide bar (3).
